New stills and previews from The Vampire Diaries season 5 episode 12, “The Devil Inside”, prove what we all thought: Katerina Petrova is up to no good once again!
Things are getting more intense on The Vampire Diaries as the plot thickens and gets even more confusing, as dopplegangers have invaded dopplegangers, with the help of travelers, who also want dopplganger blood. Yeah, you read that right.
The last we saw Katerina Petrova she was on her death bed, when she decided to use her traveler powers to transfer her consciousness into Elena’s body. Having escaped death for at least a little longer it’s now up to the rest of the gang to figure out what happened and fix yet another one of Katherine’s wrongs.
The synopsis for The Vampire Diaries season 5, episode 12, “The Devil Inside” reads:
When Enzo brings Damon a gruesome present and insists that they bond by committing an act of revenge, Damon makes an effort to do the honorable thing. After finding himself in awkward and confusing conversations with Nadia, Matt impulsively decides to throw a party, where Caroline makes a stunning confession to Elena, then has to face the consequence of her actions with Stefan and Tyler. Aaron does his best to make amends for his family’s past misdeeds and start a new life for himself. Finally, Elena suddenly finds herself in a life-threatening situation with only minutes to figure out how to save herself.
It sounds like Tyler might be back for good, but will Caroline go back to him after her rendezvous with Klaus?
Check out the stills from the episode, which show us what looks like another dramatic breakup for Damon and Elena (aka Katherine). Katherine is definitely taking advantage of this new body of hers!

Additionally, we have clips from the episode as well! In the first clip Damon had just gotten back from getting rid of Katherine’s body, when Nadia comes in asking for it to fulfill Katherine’s last dying wish.
In the second clip Tyler and Matt are unloading kegs from Matt’s truck for a party he’s hosting, and Tyler admits that he wants Caroline back.
We wonder how fans will react to Tyler’s presence back on the show, and if this means his character will get a chance to redeem himself, since most of the fandom doesn’t seem to be a fan of the way he kept ditching Caroline previously this season.
