Despite The Vampire Diaries wrapping up the veil storyline in the season 4 finale, actress Arielle Kebbel believes Lexi will be back in season 5.

In The Vampire Diaries season 4 finale, Lexi (Arielle Kebbel) appeared to make her peace with Stefan going off in search of happiness, and it seemed she passed on from the ghost world.

However, speaking to Zap2It, Kebbel reveals that she is likely to return for The Vampire Diaries season 5.

“The exciting thing about Lexi is that you never know when she’s going to pop up,” Kebbel says, “but she absolutely can. And most likely will.”

And what’s more, she might even appear on The Originals, the Klaus-centric spinoff series.

Says Kebbel, “We’ve had some talk [about The Originals], but that’s uncharted territory, so they’re still figuring out how they want to handle that.”

The actress also acknowledges the role the fans have had in bringing the character back time and time again after she was killed off in season 1.

“It’s important for me to let the fans know that they have truly helped to keep Lexi alive,” she says. “I love the character deeply, and [executive producer] Julie Plec loves the character, and we are doing the best we can to continue keeping her alive.”

Of course, the question remains whether Kebbel will be back in flashbacks, or whether the character might still have some unfinished business left after all (seeing as Stefan didn’t get his happy ending!)

Do you hope to see Lexi back in season 5 of ‘The Vampire Diaries’?

The Vampire Diaries season 5 premieres this fall on The CW, airing Thursday nights at 8/7c. The Originals will air Tuesday nights at 9/8c.
