The Vampire Diaries actress Kat Graham’s character Bonnie has a checkered history with Jeremy, but their relationship (in whatever form) is far from over.

In the third season of The Vampire Diaries, Bonnie and Jeremy finally gave into their feelings for each other only to be driven apart by Jeremy’s feelings for his dead vampire girlfriend Anna, who returned to him in ghost form after he developed the ability to communicate with the dead.

Bonnie and Jeremy ended their relationship, but continued to work together to fight Klaus and Alaric. In the season 3 finale, Bonnie stopped Jeremy’s heart to incapacitate Klaus, and brought him back to life. Fans have speculated that this event might bring the pair closer together.

Speaking to E! Online, Graham hints that in season 4, Jeremy is “becoming something new that I think the fans will really like.” Considering that he already has one supernatural ability, will his brief trip to the other side bring him more?

As for Bonnie and Jeremy’s potential romance, Graham won’t confirm or deny, but does say that they’ve had a lot of scenes together, both in the premiere episode and beyond. But whether they’ll get back together, “I think it’s yet to be determined,” she says. “I think it was such a heartbreak for the character when she discovered that he was having an affair with a ghost. She’s got a lot of mending and healing to do. So she might give him another chance, or she might think that friendship is really where they should remain.”

What do you think will happen to Jeremy in season 4, and what exactly could he be becoming?

The Vampire Diaries will return on October 11 with the premiere episode “Growing Pains,” which will air at 8/7c on The CW. The episode will see Elena and the Salvatores working to fight her transformation into a vampire, while Klaus continues to dupe everyone in Tyler’s body.
