Read what Julie Plec can tease about tonight’s The Vampire Diaries episode “Pictures of You,” where the characters go to prom.
Speaking to Give Me My Remote, Plec says that for the Salvatore brothers, the prom gives them a chance to try to make Elena care about something again. “They use the prom experience and the night that’s supposed to be so wonderful for her and her friends to try and literally inject some emotion into her,” she says.
But Elena won’t respond well to that – in fact, during the dance she’ll come to pose a threat to some of the other characters.
However, whatever Elena is or isn’t feeling right now, Plec confirms that we will find out what Elena truly feels for Damon by the end of the season, and the reveal will, “revitalize the triangle for sure.” What’s more, expect her answer to “cement their relationship — or lack thereof — once she comes clean with a sense of at least semi-permanence, if not permanence.”
Meanwhile, Caroline is having the worst time. But can a certain Original vampire make up for it? “She gets a nice moment when all is said and done; she gets to experience the perfect prom moment, but it’s short-lived and definitely will get people talking,” Plec teases. A little post-prom Caroline/Klaus dance, perhaps?
Bonnie has her own problems to deal with. At this point in the season, “she’s not in a good place,” Plec says, “and she doesn’t trust herself. And that lack of control starts to manifest itself in her magic as well.”
It seems like whatever happens with Bonnie, the veil will indeed be lifted, allowing certain dead characters to return. Plec won’t confirm or deny whether Alaric (Matt Davis) and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) come back, but she does say that, “we will definitely see a few of our dearly departed faces again. The question is who, and are they there for good, for bad, does it go well, does it not go well?”
But for now, let’s just focus on prom! It’s hours away, guys – let’s start doing our hair.
