Not only will The Vampire Diaries actor Joseph Morgan be starring on The Originals in the fall, but he’ll also play the lead role in the upcoming Dermaphoria adaptation movie.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Joseph Morgan will star in the adaptation of Craig Clevenger’s novel Dermaphoria, which is written and will be directed by Ross Clarke.

Morgan will play a brilliant chemist who wakes up in jail with amnesia after an explosion in his lab.

Now, he needs to piece together the events which led him to this moment, fight off both the cops and the bad guys who are after a forgotten formula, and find his missing girlfriend.

The novel has been described as Memento meets Breaking Bad, and could probably also be likened to a darker version of The Hangover.

Dermaphoria will also star Walton Goggins, Ron Pearlman and Nicole Badaan.

Morgan recently made the transition from a regular character on The Vampire Diaries to the lead in the spinoff series The Originals, which premieres this fall on The CW.
