It seems that Joseph Morgan and Julie Plec just can’t get enough talk about The Originals, as both have recently given interviews discussing all things Klaus, The Originals pilot, and the character’s future on The Vampire Diaries.

All About Klaus

In a recent interview with Fearnet.com, Joseph Morgan discusses all things Klaus and gives a few tidbits that may be news to fans. When asked about the potential of the budding romance between Klaus and Caroline, he had this to say about his homicidal alter-ego, “Look, he felt he was dying and called Caroline. Not his sister. Not his brother. That says a lot about where he is in terms of his feelings towards her.” He goes on to say that, “Klaus wants to believe he is, that he is someone capable of love. We’ll see how it plays out, but he’s definitely on board with the idea of being with her.”

He also commented on where he would like to see The Originals take his character: “It would be nice if The Originals go to series, if it’s ultimately the story of Klaus’ redemption. I would like to think it is possible for him, but it’s going to take a little work.”

But do not fret Klaus (and Carolaus) fans, Joseph Morgan’s time may not be up on The Vampire Diaries just yet. It seems fairly certain that we will see Klaus after The Originals backdoor pilot (4×20) airs in a few weeks, as you can read in this bit from Examiner.com, “Klaus, Rebekah, and Elijah will be heading to New Orleans in Episode 20 this season for The Originals spin-off episode… but that doesn’t mean they’re just going to stay in NoLa, killing time and waiting for the fall TV season. We can tell you that Episode 20 isn’t the last we’ll see of Klaus this season on The Vampire Diaries.”

Matt’s mom was a what?!

In other news, Julie Plec shared a ditched plotline from season 1 in which Matt Donovan’s mother was a succubus. In an interview with Sheknows.com, she responded to the ever-popular, “Can we expect to see any other supernatural creatures in the future?” question with a crazy tidbit from The Vampire Diaries past:

“We tried to make Matt Donovan’s mother a succubus and we shot it and we wrote three scripts about it. When we saw it for the first time we realized this isn’t right. This doesn’t feel like part of our show. It doesn’t feel like we’re in the right scientific world. I’m not saying we’ll not ever see other creatures, but definitely thus far, we are staying grounded in that one zone.”

Lots of exciting news and info coming out of our favorite cast and crew during this brief hiatus. Make sure to tune in to the next new episode of The Vampire Diaries, 4×19, entitled “Pictures of You” when it airs on April 18, 2013.

Are you glad that Klaus’ time isn’t entirely up on ‘The Vampire Diaries’? Also, can you imagine if Matt’s mom had been a succubus?
