Fans who may not own a DVR but have gotten used to being home every Thursday night for The Vampire Diaries are going to need to remember that the show’s first ever move to a new night has been made.

In exactly one week’s time, instead of recapping and going over Thursday night’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, we’ll still be waiting for the show to air. For the first time in seven years, since the show premiered in 2009, The Vampire Diaries will not be airing on Thursday nights, and will have officially moved to its new home in the Friday slot schedule.

But worry not, the time hasn’t changed! Both The Vampire Diaries and The Originals will keep their respective 8:00 p.m./9:00 p.m. show slots, which started late last year. The only caveat being that instead of having a social life you’ll either need to stay in until 10 p.m. to catch the shows or record it for watching later.

And that’s not the only thing you’ll need to remember!

With The Vampire Diaries having been off the air for several weeks now, we found ourselves questioning what even happened the last time we saw the Salvatore brothers, and we’re sure you might’ve gotten foggy on the details as well. Don’t worry about it, though, because we have a brief recap of each character’s journey below.

Damon and Stefan Salvatore

These two have an especially rough few weeks ahead of them as both have now been imprisoned inside the phoenix stone. Don’t remember why that’s such a big deal? The phoenix stone, when paired with a certain blade, is capable of trapping the souls of vampires in their own personal Hell. Julian was trapped in it for over a hundred years, and you saw how well that turned out.

So Damon and Stefan will be stuck in their respective versions of Hell until Bonnie, Caroline and the rest of the gang can figure out a way to get them back. While we definitely believe in them and don’t really worry about them making it out alive, there’s no question that this is going to be one of the toughest things they’ll have to endure.

Caroline Forbes

Let’s not forget that the control-freak known as Caroline Forbes has been pregnant for some time now with Alaric’s twins, through a magical process we’re still trying to understand. We’re pretty sure this particular pregnancy is growing a little faster than normal, so we should be getting a gross vampire-giving-birth scene before the seventh season ends — yay!

The last we saw Caroline, she was losing control of her appetite, but vowed to make it work. Well, Forbes, good luck to you on that one but pregnancy is one thing you won’t be able to control!

Bonnie Bennet and the heretics

The vampire witches in the show have had a lot of drama in particular, and they somehow managed to pull Bonnie into all of it. After the “kidnapping” of Mary Louise, which Stefan faked so he could lure Julian in and kill him, someone texted Mary’s former love, Nora, and told her about it. Nora was in the middle of bonding with Bonnie when she got the text, and assuming that Bonnie had everything to do with it, Nora syphoned all her magic and left her on the ground.

We can expect tensions to be high next Friday, with the Heretics thinking Bonnie and Caroline are out to get them and Bonnie and Caroline trying to figure out a way to get Stefan and Damon back.

So although we’ve moved to a new night, we’re sure The Vampire Diaries will continue to provide us with some epic stories to tell!

‘The Vampire Diaries’ returns Friday, January 29!
