The Armory has something locked up that probably shouldn’t be let out. What could be in the mysterious vault, and will it be released in The Vampire Diaries season 7, episode 20, “Kill ‘Em All?”
Apparently, Bennett witches are great for opening both tombs and vaults, because the Armory is after Bonnie to break yet another magical seal. Alexandria hasn’t given us any reasons to trust her yet, so if she wants this vault opened, it’s probably not a good idea. We all know how things turned out when Bonnie released the tomb vampires!
Virginia St. John was willing to kill to keep whatever’s in there locked up, so at the very least, we know it would be bad for her if the vault were to be opened. Alexandria confessed that her other sister, Yvette, is locked in the vault, and that “something down there is keeping her alive.”
Bonnie is in a very desperate situation right now, having just been told that she has approximately one week to live. Salvatore and co. made a deal with Rayna Cruz, but they may have signed up for an impossible task when they agreed to locate and kill all of her targets. Alexandria is promising to do whatever she can to save Bonnie’s life if she opens the vault, so if she gets desperate enough, this may be Bonnie’s only option!
Whatever’s in there, it could potentially lead to Bonnie’s salvation, or somebody’s doom. Here are three predictions about who/what is the villain in the vault.
1. It’s just Yvette and she is some terrifying hybrid species that we’ve never seen before. Alexandria seemed convinced that she was still alive after years of being locked in the vault, which would make sense if was a vampire, or at least part vampire. We’ve already seen a vampire/wolf hybrid and a vampire/siphon hybrid, so this would have to be something new entirely.
It was difficult enough for Salvatore and co. to figure out how to beat the heretics, so if Yvette is something even more obscure, she could make for a very interesting villain going into The Vampire Diaries season 8.
2. Some sort of magic is trapped in there and when the seal is broken, the magic will be unleashed. We’ve seen a spell effect a widespread area when the travellers put their curse over Mystic Falls, so this could also be something that will have a negative, general effect over our heroes and their enemies.
3. There’s nothing in there and this is just a twisted excuse for the Armory to get Bonnie into the vault. The Armory loves to collect their magical artifacts, and what’s more magical than the last living Bennett witch. If they had a way to keep her alive, they could use her for any Bennett specific spells that would otherwise be obstacles to them along their way.
