We know that Stefan and Caroline aren’t a couple anymore in the three year flash forward, but it looks like they may not even make it through the week!
Stefan Salvatore and Caroline Forbes, or as we know them together, Steroline, showed so much potential at the beginning of their relationship. Their stable and supportive friendship was a breath of fresh air between all the drama on The Vampire Diaries. After seeing Stefan in pain over losing Elena for so long, it was nice when his friendship with Caroline finally blossomed into something more and it seemed like they were heading towards something really great.
Then, The Vampire Diaries, season 7 threw in Stefan’s baby mama and Caroline’s baby bump. With everything they’ve had to deal with, they haven’t really had any time to be a couple at all! We’ve seen things drive some small wedges between them, but it looks like in The Vampire Diaries, season 7, episode 15, all of these things could add up to the end of Steroline.
Even though Valerie started off as a part of the villainous heretic gang, she has come a long way in proving her allegiance to the good guys. Many people have benefited from her sudden kindness, but her motives have always been pretty clear. Even when she was locked in the prison world her thoughts were always of Stefan and that probably didn’t just go away when she found out he was taken by a cute-as-a-button blonde.
Stefan and Valerie will be spending more time than ever together in The Vampire Diaries, season 7, episode 15. Valerie is more than happy to lend her helping, magical hands to the cause of defeating Rayna and Stefan is low on people to turn to at this point. We’ve definitely grown to like Valerie more and more over the past few weeks and we’re sure Stefan hasn’t been immune to her kindness either. Them working together could possibly revive some of their old sparks and bring these two closer.
Caroline has always been able to protect herself against even the biggest of bads, but she now has two very defenseless little siphons to consider. That could be a problem given that her boyfriend currently has a very dangerous huntress hot on his trail. Between her new found responsibility and her desire to be in Dallas, she will have to decide very soon if this relationship is working for her in her current situation. Maybe her and Alaric could fall in love, maybe she could find Klaus again or maybe she could just be awesome all by herself!
Besides all of the compelling in show reasons why this relationship could fall apart very quickly, there’s a very telling real life reason as well. The beautiful actress who portrays Caroline, Candice King, just had a baby of her own (the supernatural tendencies of this baby have yet to be confirmed). The Vampire Diaries, season 7, episode 15, is the last episode Candice filmed before her little one arrived and she began her maternity leave. A Steroline break up would be a perfect reason for us to leave the new little family alone in Dallas to get on their feet while we deal with the Mystic Falls drama.
Candice returned to set this week but she missed quite a few episodes over her break. She is set to appear in season 7, episode 19 so that leaves three episodes for Stefan and Valerie to pick up where they left off and for Caroline to grow more attached to the family the Gemini coven granted her.
