The Umbrella Academy is expanding its cast for season 2 and adding three new non-comicbook characters to the fray!

The Umbrella Academy season 1 gave us all the dysfunctional superhero family we never knew we needed, and it looks like season 2 will give us even more characters to love!

The official Umbrella Academy Twitter announced three new additions to the show’s season 2 and gave fans a brief description of the characters they’ll be playing.

The three new additions to the show are Ritu Arya, best known for her work on the show Humans, Yusuf Gatewood, who was recently in the Amazon Prime show Good Omens, and Marin Ireland, who is part of FX’s upcoming adaptation of Y: The Last Man.

All three characters are new to the show, which means comic book fans will be in for new twists and surprises right along with the rest of the general audience!

Ritu Arya will be playing Lila, who was described as “a chameleon who can be as brilliant or as clinically insane as the situation requires.” She’s unpredictable, mischievous, and sarcastic with a twisted sense of humor, which probably means she’ll get along swimmingly with Klaus and will likely be our new favorite character.

Yusuf Gatewood will be playing Raymond, a born leader, devoted husband with smarts, gravitas and the confidence to never have to prove it to anyone. He’s also described as having the innate ability to disarm you with a single look, so we’re counting down the days until we see him go toe to toe with Luther.

Rounding out the new cast is Marin Ireland as Sissy, a fearless, no-nonsense Texas mom. While she married young for all the wrong reasons, she’s now eager to rediscover what life and love has to offer. Given her backstory, we’re eager to see how she gets along with Allison.

Production on the 10-episode season 2 is currently underway, with Steve Blackman returning as showrunner. No word yet on when the season will drop on Netflix.
