Sky Atlantic is remaking hit Scandinavian drama series The Bridge, renamed The Tunnel, and now the first look promo has been released!

A joint promo for Boardwalk Empire, Ray Donovan and The Tunnel gives us our first proper look at the new English/French murder mystery:

In The Tunnel, the murder of a prominent French politician is committed in the tunnel between England and France, and now British and French police must collaborate to investigate the crime.

Harry Potter actress Clémence Poésy plays detective Elise Wasserman, with Game of Thrones‘ Stephen Dillane as her reluctant partner Karl Roebuck.

“The case takes a surreal turn when a shocking discovery is made at the crime scene, forcing the French and British police into an uneasy partnership,” the show synopsis teases.

The series will be directed by Cesar Award winning filmmaker Dominik Moll, and also stars Joseph Mawle, Tom Bateman and Merlin actress Angel Coulby.

The original series The Bridge had a similar premise, with the crime committed on the bridge linking Denmark and Sweden.

Interestingly, The Tunnel is not the only remake currently in production.

Like The Killing, the Scandinavian series is also being remade for American audiences, with the crime taking place on the border between the U.S. and Mexico.

FX is producing this thriller series, which stars Diane Kruger, Demian Bichir and Annabeth Gish.

The Tunnel will premiere later this year on Sky Atlantic and Canal+.
