We all loved Mister Rogers as kids, and the trailer for the Fred Rogers documentary, Won’t You Be My Neighbor reminds us just why we loved him so much.

When you think of kids shows, there are just some timeless staples that come to the front of your mind, and one of those is undoubtedly Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. On paper, the show sounds incredibly boring, following one cardigan-clad man on a journey through imagination with the help of his dulcet tones and low-budget sets. However the reality is, that show impacted generations of children.

Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood taught children to dream big, to be brave, to be kind to others, and to love themselves. While we maybe didn’t get how important some of the teachings of Mister Rogers were as children, as adults a lot of us can see how that show shaped us as people.

In the documentary Won’t You Be My Neighbor, the impact of Rogers’ show and the lessons he taught kids is brought front and center. We get to see how he not only managed to be a good teacher, but the ways he almost became a mentor to children across the country, teaching them to love themselves and respect others.

Focus Features released the trailer for this amazing documentary, and it will definitely give you all the Mister Rogers nostalgia-feels. And even if you haven’t thought about the show in years, it will remind you why Mister Rogers Neighborhood was a staple in so many of our childhoods.

There couldn’t be a better time for this documentary to release. While we are incredibly divided as a nation and the news seems like a non-stop horror show, Won’t You Be My Neighbor is here to give us an injection of hope, love, and empathy. The documentary will release in theaters on June 8, and we just can’t wait.
