The Tomorrow People screened at Comic-Con preview night, and Hypable was there to bring you an early review of the new and exciting CW series.
The pilot episode focuses on lead character Stephen Jameson (Robbie Amell), who hears the voice of a woman constantly talking to him and has weird things happen to him, like waking up in his neighbor’s bed. But all of his issues are chalked up to a sleeping disorder, and Stephen takes medicine to help, but the voice never goes away.

Stephen is finally convinced by Cara (Peyton List), the voice in his head, to meet up with her. When he does, he is teleported to the secret hideout of the “Tomorrow People,” which is not a name they gave themselves. Stephen is in fact one them, and his superpower is a genetic trait that he received from his absentee father. Stephen doesn’t necessarily believe the Tomorrow People at first.

Without giving too much away, the rest of the pilot throws you curve ball after curve ball, and if the show keeps up that pace and level of intriguing reveals, it will definitely be a big draw. The sci-fi aspects of the show are reminiscent of Heroes while the relationship aspects are a little more like The Vampire Diaries.

The show stars Robbie Amell (Stephen Amell’s cousin) in the lead role. Peyton List, Mark Pellegrino, and Aaron Yoo also star in the show; however, the most dynamic character of the bunch is John, played by Luke Mitchell. His character’s backstory definitely has the most room to grow.

The Tomorrow People definitely a show worth checking out in the fall. It has the potential to bring the three t’s of sci-fi (telepathy, teleportation, and telekinesis) to life in a really cool way that allows a story to be told about more that just the powers these people have.

The Tomorrow People premieres Wednesday, October 10 at 9/8c on The CW.
