The Tomorrow People‘s mid-season finale brought all the drama and continued the growing love triangle between Stephen (Robbie Amell), John (Luke Mitchell) and Cara (Peyton List). Beware of spoilers as you read on.

The episode began right where the last one ended, with John in trouble. John was captured after threatening Jedikiah (Mark Pellegrino) and was unable to teleport away. After fighting with Ultra, he was dragged into a torture session with the founder. He wanted to know the location of the Tomorrow People’s lair. Despite the torture, John resisted.

Cara and Russell (Aaron Yoo) decided to try to get John back by kidnapping Jedikiah’s lover Morgan (Carly Pope), who also happens to have powers. Cara negotiated for John’s freedom by baiting Jedikiah with Morgan’s freedom. It looks like Jedikiah really does care for either Morgan or John since he agreed to the deal without Ultra’s approval.

The founder let slip John’s biggest secret in front of Stephen. Remember, his secret was that he killed Stephen’s father Roger on purpose. Although Stephen was unsurprisingly shocked, he resisted violence and channeled his energy into the cause and helping John escape. We wonder if he would have been so understanding had he not had the vision of his father saying “Thanatos” a few weeks back.

Jedikiah says goodbye to John sweetly despite John’s obvious displeasure which includes spitting. Jedikiah confronts Stephen about Cara’s powers and Stephen reveals his love for her. Nice family bonding moment. The moment is made even better when Jedikiah reveals that he gave John a key to let him go.

John then took Stephen hostage and teleported out of Ultra, still preserving his cover. Cara brings Morgan to Jedikiah as promised, however she returns with Cara in order to be safe. Jedikiah now how has a chip implanted as it looks like Ultra no longer fully trusts him.

Stephen tries to find his dad through stopping time mid-jump however is unsuccessful despite John’s help. He even turns to his mother who knows a bit more about Thanatos than previously thought. Stephen gets to watch some old videotapes of his father attempting to stop time with Dr. Crick’s help. When he goes to visit Dr. Crick again, he gets a little information about stopping time: he has to die before he can be in limbo. Ultra interrupts the moment and shoots Crick. Remember, Crick was in hiding before the Tomorrow People sought him out.

The founder also reminds Jedikiah to kill Morgan, aka “tie up loose ends,” and he agrees. What a nice way to treat love. Jedikiah met up with Morgan only to shoot her and fake her death. Morgan showed up back at the Tomorrow People’s lair so no harm no foul.

Cara and John complicate their relationship by fighting over the fact that John killed Roger. Stephen throws a goodbye party with Astrid (Madeleine Mantock) and his Tomorrow People friends. Only Astrid is unaware that Stephen has to die to find his father.

John stopped Stephen’s heart and Cara tried to make sure he was alright and would not suffer brain damage while under. She understandably freaked out when it looked like he was not going to make it and the love triangle become even more complicated. However Stephen survived and saw his father. Next step: find his father’s body.
