The Tomorrow People’s seventh episode “Limbo” explored romantic relationships between Stephen (Robbie Amell), Cara (Peyton List), Astrid (Madeleine Mantock), and John (Luke Mitchell).

Stephen is not having a great day in this episode of The Tomorrow People.

“Limbo” begins with a girl spooked by a whistling disappearing man who then disables her. Stephen wakes up in a fancy hotel room only to find that Cara is taking a shower without him. Stephen tries to stir up some romance and wants to do it again while Cara politely declines and leaves.

John returns from Oregon with a beaver teddy bear for Cara. Cute boyfriend move. He reveals Russell’s (Aaron Yoo) secret musical genius while Ingrid tracks a new breakout who is a rapist. John notes that having powers does not make someone a good person.

John tries to get Cara to contact Stephen to track the breakout at Ultra but she feels awkward about it. Stephen gets push-back from an Ultra agent for getting his partner Agent Darcy killed. Jedikiah (Mark Pellegrino) intervenes and gives Stephen a few days off with a warning not to go rogue.

John contacts Stephen about the breakout and gives him a break about all of the pressure. John is Yoda-like as he tells Stephen that one can’t chose their destiny, they can only fulfill it. Looks like Stephen might feel a tad bad about sleeping with his girlfriend.

Astrid (Madeleine Mantock) tries to cheer Stephen up and encourages him to have some fun with his powers. He leads their gym class’ basketball team and uses his powers to win. Unfortunately, it backfires on him and his coach makes him play in the varsity basketball game. Astrid oversteps her boundaries and slaps Stephen’s butt.

John feels guilty and thinks Cara hasn’t forgiven him for revealing that he can kill. He knows he has to earn her trust back and thinks they can get through anything. He confesses his love for her and Cara is left dumbfounded.

Astrid and Stephen teleport to the Empire State building and back, only to find Cara in his bedroom. Cara tells Stephen it was a mistake and her fault. Stephen resists and says that they’ve had something even when he didn’t know her.

Stephen gets in with the cool kids and throws a party, using his powers to prevent damage. He’s called upstairs to deal with an emergency situation that is a girl who wants to make out with him. Looks like he’s doing all right.

Cara confesses to John that she slept with Stephen and feels terrible. He asks her if they’re even now. Meanwhile Astrid interrupts Jenny and Stephen, as the cops have arrived. Astrid is upset that he’s becoming a jerk and is getting closer to Cara. He overhears her thought that she’s in love with him and is stunned.

John interrupts the rapist and they fight when Cara and Russell teleport in. The guy teleports away, but the Tomorrow People manage to save the girl.

Jedikiah comes and puts a suppression cuff on Stephen, which his father invented. It will suppress his powers. In the morning, Stephen learns that his mom is not happy with his mess.

The Tomorrow People have no way to help Stephen, and Cara lets him know he’s useless. John volunteers to take him topside and lets Stephen know that he has his back for the game. Stephen is apparently a Wildcat, making us think of High School Musical. Is he your Troy?

John takes out his anger by making balls hit Stephen in the face and makes him fall, though he still scores. John confronts him about sleeping with Cara, and his leadership, when Stephen throws the first punch. The boys engage in an all out brawl with Cara teleporting in to stop. Whose side are you on?

Stephen figures out that the rapist takes his victims into the sewers due to his profession. He investigates on his own and confronts the rapist, letting a girl escape. Stephen is able to communicate to Cara despite his suppression cuff and is virtually helpless against the rapist. The man tries to drown Stephen in the current when Cara and John come and save the day. John rescues Stephen while Cara fights the rapist.

Cara attempts to seriously hurt the guy when she is unable to due to the no-kill gene. Russell comes in the nick of time. Stephen sees his father while he is floating in the water and is warned to save everyone with the word “Thanatos.” John narrowly saves Stephen’s life using mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Stephen brings in the breakout to Jedikiah and uses John’s line about destiny on Jedikiah. He is given his powers backbut not before he is questioned about the rapist’s report that Cara was involved. John says that they’re good, since they both made out and tells Cara that Stephen is in love with her. He recognizes the need for Stephen due to the endgame and Cara admits that there is something between her and Stephen. Cara tells John that she loves him and all seems ok for the moment. Such a confusing relationship.

Stephen thanks Astrid for reminding him of who he really is. Stephen admits that he doesn’t feel the same for Astrid due to Cara. Astrid plays the best friend card and says that Cara does care about him. Poor Astrid.

The episode ends with Stephen confronting Cara about how they are inevitable despite her denials. Stephen confesses to Cara and John that he has seen his dad and wants to find him.

What did you think of the episode? Do you feel for Stephen?
