A so-called paradise becomes an inescapable living hell for Jude Law in HBO’s upcoming limited drama series The Third Day.

If you’re craving something with Midsommar vibes or a strong Wickerman feel, but is instead set in rural Britain and spread out over the course of six episodes, then HBO has you covered.

HBO’s The Third Day will follow a man and a woman who arrive on a mysterious island at different times and are drawn into the stories and mysteries there.

The series is executive produced by Felix Barrett, founder and Artistic Director of Punchdrunk, the minds behind the unique stage play Sleep No More, a New York City theater experience in which audiences are immersed in the story of Macbeth as they wander through an old, ornate hotel.

Check out the trailer below, which looks just as trippy and enchanting as you might expect from someone who created Sleep No More!

According to the official synopsis from HBO, The Third Day is divided into two parts: “Summer” and “Winter.” In “Summer,” one man (The New Pope’s Jude Law) visits a mysterious island off the British coast and discovers a group of inhabitants intent on preserving their home at any cost.

In the second half, aka “Winter,” a strong-willed outsider (Moonlight’s Naomie Harris) comes to the island seeking answers — but instead causes a battle to decide its fate.

T‌he six-episode series also features The Outsider star Paddy Considine, Chernobyl actress Emily Watson, Katherine Waterston from Warner Bros.’ Fantastic Beasts, John Dagleish from Judy, and Freya Allan, who played Ciri on the Netflix hit The Witcher.

‌The HBO and Sky co-production was created by Felix Barrett and Dennis Kelly. “Summer” is written by Kelly and directed by Marc Munden (both known for their work on Utopia, while “Winter” is written by Kit de Wall, Dean O’Loughlin and Kelly and directed by Philippa Lowthorpe (The Crown).

The series is executive-produced by Barrett, Kelly, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner.

The Third Day will premiere on HBO on May 11.
