The Sound of Music was given a 50th Anniversary Ultimate Collector’s Edition last week, and we’re giving away two copies.

50 years ago this month, The Sound of Music was released in theaters. In the time since, the movie has remained an absolute classic.

The Sound of Music was part of Julie Andrews’ huge breakout into superstardom. Andrews made her big-screen debut in 1964 with Mary Poppins, and The Sound of Music came out the following year. Andrews won her only Oscar for her titular role in Mary Poppins, and The Sound of Music coming out only a month before the Academy Awards ceremony that year likely helped her seal the win. Andrews also received Oscar nominations for The Sound of Music and Victor Victoria but didn’t win.

The Sound of Music has been given an absolutely fantastic release, and it is truly a must-own. The release features five different disks: three Blu-rays, one DVD, and a CD. It’s been given a near perfect transfer and looks and sounds as good as it possibly could on Blu-ray. With a slew of amazing bonus content such as a great commentary and tons of featurettes, this is a Blu-ray worth owning.
