‘The Soul Mate’ by Kendall Ryan review:
Kendall Ryan is one of those authors that kept coming up in recommendations from other people. But it wasn’t until the Roommate series that I really got into following her books. Each of the books in the series is a little bit different from one another – tackling different tropes with different characters.
Despite this, they all feel like they belong together. The Soul Mate, like the others in the series, is a little bit sexy and a little bit sweet. It’s an easy and fun read, and was a perfect get away with all of the crazy things going on in the real world.
One of the things that makes The Soul Mate so fun to read is that readers get to see the hero of the story, Mason, chasing after the heroine, Brenn. After a steamy night together, after meeting up at a bar, she ghosts on him. Cue Mason’s obsession with finding her again, because he really things she could be the one for him. All of his social media stalking is a fail, however, and he can’t find her anywhere.
That is, until she shows up in his doctor’s office to find out if she’s pregnant. Despite the lingering question of a possible baby being added to the mix, Brenn still doesn’t feel like a relationship is the right thing for her. She has her reasons and it’s up to Mason to prove that giving him a chance is worth the potential heartache.
Brenn is a really fun heroine to follow, she’s passionate about her career and is perfectly fine without a man in her life. Yet, she can’t deny her feelings for Mason and their heated chemistry. Reading her mixed emotions while she tries to fight off her attraction to him is one of my favorite aspects of the book.
There were lots of twists that come along that I really wasn’t expecting. Sometimes in lighter books it’s easy to see plot points coming from a mile away, but I was totally caught of guard this time. It kept me wondering what was going to happen all the way until the end! When they finally do get their happy ending though, the rocky road seems totally worth it.
