The Sopranos Blu-ray box set release date has been announced and will be hitting stores November 4 with five hours of bonus features.

HBO’s highly coveted The Sopranos Blu-ray box set has always been something fans have been dying to purchase, but HBO had only released season one and season six on Blu-ray for whatever reason.

Now HBO has decided to release The Sopranos Blu-ray box set in its entirety this November. The late, great James Gandolfini was the star of The Sopranos, who tragically passed away nearly a year ago after having a heart attack while visiting Italy. He was the show and fans loved every second he was on screen.

The Blu-ray box set includes a feature titled “Defining a Television Landmark,” which has a run time of 45 minutes and includes interviews with everyone from the cast including Steve Buschemi, James Gandolfini, Edie Falco and many more incredible actors which made their start with the show.

While The Sopranos premiered in 1997 and ended in 2007, it’s been considered the first show in what people in TV now call the Golden Age of Television. The Sopranos created the entire category for shows that felt more like segments of a film, similar to what we’ve seen with Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and half a dozen more.

The Sopranos Blu-ray box set includes all 86 episodes of the show, including interviews with Sopranos creator David Chase, Ocean’s Eleven director Steven Soderbergh and The News Room’s Jeff Daniels. While younger audiences may feel that The Sopranos has been somewhat forgotten, it’s often considered one of the best TV shows ever created.

Fans continue to debate the finale, and if you weren’t lucky enough to watch the series when it aired, you should definitely consider picking up this highly coveted Blu-ray box set that will finally be available on November 4.

The Blu-ray box set also includes more than five hours of bonus material including lost scenes, roundtable dinners with the cast and 25 audio commentaries as well as the feature which will take a look at how the show was created.

While the box set cost a jaw dropping $279.98 (should see lower prices in stores), it’s 86 episodes of some of the best television writing that you’ll ever see. If you’re a fan of The Sopranos you know just how incredible the show was and if you haven’t, we encourage you to check this show out. It was the Breaking Bad of its day, when shows wouldn’t dare go where The Sopranos was willing to go every Sunday night.

Sometimes considered too vulgar and difficult to watch, The Sopranos was the beginning of the incredible quality of television writing that we see on TV each and every week now. It truly started the Golden Age of TV and remains a must watch.
