Fans of The Society can rest easy knowing the hit sci-fi series will be sticking around on Netflix.

Netflix announced on Tuesday (July 9) morning that they have officially renewed The Society for a second season.

The series took to its official Twitter account to share the good n news with fans far and wide.

“:SCREAMS IN NEW HAM:” tweeted the series on Tuesday (July 9) morning. “WE HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!”

The all-caps alert was paired with a short 46-second video in which series stars helped make the big announcement of the show’s second season renewal.

“To the citizens of New Ham— we have some news. Like really big news,” teased the stars. “We’re making season 2 of the society!”

The Society, which premiered via Netflix earlier this year, focuses on a group of teens who return to their wealthy New England town to discover everyone has disappeared. The newfound freedom is intoxicating, but also poses a lot of danger.

Most of the first season centers on the group’s struggle to survive in a world with no rules— something they must figure out how to do if they ever want to get to the bottom of unraveling the mystery of what has happened to them and where everyone else in the town went.

Though viewers got some answers with regards to the latter in the show’s first season, there are still tons of questions left unanswered. From the sounds of the cast’s video message, it looks as though fans can look forward to getting at least some of their questions answered when the series returns with new episodes next year.

“More pie, more fugitives, more memes, and more answers about Charlie, and Becca’s baby daddy, and Grizz’s hair— it’s full of secrets,” joked various cast members with regards to what we can expect from season 2.

The Society season 2 is set to premiere via Netflix sometime in 2020.
