The CW’s pilot The Selection has found its queen: Stargate Universe actress Louise Lombard has been cast as Amberly.

Deadline reports that the latest actor to join the cast of The Selection is Louise Lombard, best known for her work on CSI and Stargate Universe.

Lombard replaces Leonor Varela in the role; this actress was originally cast as Amberly last year, when The Selection was under consideration for the fall 2012 season.

When The CW failed to option the series after viewing the pilot, the script received a major revision and most of the cast was replaced.

Headlining this new version of the pilot is Yael Grobglas, who plays lead character America Singer, as well as Michael Malarkey (Prince Maxon) and Lucien Laviscount (Aspen), her two love interests.

Buffy and Merlin actor Anthony Stewart Head will also be starring in this series, playing Maxon’s father (and Amberly’s husband) King Clarkson.

The Selection is based on the YA fantasy novel of the same name, written by Kiera Cass. It takes place 300 years in the future, and sees America sign up for a reality-TV style competition where the prize is the hand of the handsome young prince. In the book, she journeys to the castle with 24 other girls, leaving behind her boyfriend Aspen whom she believes has left her.

If The CW picks up this version of the pilot, The Selection will begin airing in the fall of 2013.
