Last week on The Vampire Diaries we saw one vampire’s humanity return, and now it’s time to see if the group can get Caroline to flip her switch back too.

Last week on ‘The Vampire Diaries’

Caroline and Stefan were going on a murdering spree at Whitmore College, which forced Damon and Elena to intervene. Before they were able to get to them, though, Tyler and Matt found themselves in the path of the humanity-less vampires. Caroline managed to trick Tyler into stabbing Matt by accident, but when Matt got to the hospital he refused to let Elena give him his blood because apparently he hates vampires now. Luckily he survived, but his refusal hurt Elena deeply. That, in addition to Jo’s new pregnancy, has gotten Elena to rethink being a vampire – but she can’t do anything about it because she has no idea that Damon has the cure.

Meanwhile, Damon’s plan to get Stefan’s humanity back was introducing him to his mother. Unfortunately for them their mother has stopped loving them in the 150 plus years that she’s been a vampire, so Damon had to try and convince her to lie to Stefan. Luckily her lies worked and she was able to flip Stefan’s humanity switch back on, but Caroline ran before Stefan could try to trick her into doing the same.

Finally, we also saw a glimpse into Enzo’s past. We learned that Lily Salvatore was the one that turned Enzo into a vampire on the very same ship that she used to cross from England over to New York in 1903. She had abandoned him on that ship, after also killing everyone on board, leaving him to learn the vampire ways all on his own. We also learned that Enzo’s plan for Sarah Salvatore was the same as Lily’s: turn her into a monster and ditch her. But, for some reason, Sarah managed to convince Enzo to not go through with it and Enzo left Sarah alone.

Oh, and last but not least we found out that the six friends that Lily Salvatore had with her in the 1903 prison world are actually vampire-witches. They were like Kai, able to absorb the magic around them, so when they turned into vampires they were able to syphon the magic from themselves and keep their witchy abilities. And last we saw them they had just began to drink Kai’s blood, getting out of their desiccated state. We still don’t know if Kai survived.

This week, it’s Caroline’s turn to flip her switch
