Fans of the hit Broadway musical, The Prom can now get a taste of what they can expect from Netflix and Ryan Murphy’s highly anticipated movie musical adaptation.

The streaming giant took to the internet on Thursday (October 22) to unveil the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated adaptation, which features a star-studded cast headlined by Tony Award winner James Corden and Academy Award winner Meryl Streep.

Streep and Corden play Dee Dee Allen and Barry Glickman— a pair of New York City stage stars who find themselves in quite the predicament when their expensive new Broadway show is a major flop and subsequently flatlines their otherwise successful careers.

In an effort to resurrect their public images, Dee Dee and Barry find themselves venturing to a small town in Indiana, where high schooler Emma Nolan (Jo Ellen Pellman) is facing a predicament of her own. All Emma wants to do is go to prom with her girlfriend, Alyssa (Ariana DeBose), but despite the support of her principal (Keegan-Michael Key), the head of the PTA (Kerry Washington) has banned her from attending the biggest night.

Armed with the help of actor friends Angie (Oscar winner Nicole Kidman) and Trent (Tony Award nominee Andrew Rannells), the quartet decide to help Emma through her predicament in an effort to bring some good PR their way.
