Fans who flipped over the announcement that The Postal Service would reunite to take on Coachella, now have even more to be excited about!

Nearly 10 years since the release of their first and only record Give Up, the duo comprised of Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello, have released their brand new single, “A Tattered Line of String.”

The track features more of the same infectiously catchy indie-electro pop sound that fans have come to know and expect from The Postal Service.

Unfortunately for fans, despite the new single and full U.S. tour on the horizon, it doesn’t look as though Gibbard and Tamborello have any plans to move forward with creating a whole new album.

As we reported earlier in our post announcing the return of The Postal Service, Gibbard has stated in the past that he and Tamborello have no plans to make another record together.

Additionally, Sub Pop Records issued the following statement along with the official video for the song on YouTube and revealed a little bit more information about when the song was written.

“To the best of our knowledge at this time, no, The Postal Service is not currently working on new material. And no, ‘A Tattered Line of String’ is not a Give Up leftover from 2003. For those of you who like details like this, this song was actually begun in 2006 and finished up in 2012.”
