We’ve been chomping at the bit for our first look at The Originals season 3, and now we have it. It includes Klaus and his first sire, Lucien, and they don’t look happy to see each other.

It seems rather fitting that our first look at The Originals season 3 would include Klaus and his first sire, as we know that this particular sire is going to be stirring up all kinds of trouble for the Mikaelsons and their friends.

At San Diego Comic-Con last month, we learned that Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah’s first sires were going to play an important role in The Originals season 3. Michael Narducci even went so far as to call season 3 ‘The War of the Sire Lines.’ Now that our first real look at The Originals season 3 has appeared and includes Andrew Lees, also known as Klaus’ first sire, Lucien, we are more believing than ever in the importance of the sire lines.

Entertainment Weekly published the still this morning that shows the pair looking not-so-lovingly into each other’s eyes. We don’t have any more context for the shot, but you can check it out for yourselves and decide what you think is going on.

We can’t wait to see a villain unrelated to the Mikaelson brood hit the streets of New Orleans, since the last two seasons’ big bads have consisted of their mother, their father, their aunt, and assorted instances in which they fought amongst themselves. Sure there have been troublesome witches and werewolves causing trouble along the way too, but most of them don’t begin to compare to the horrors that were hidden within the family Mikaelson.

We are also plenty eager to see Jason Dohring hit the screen as the new detective in town, especially since Julie hinted that he will be helping Cami find justice for the humans in a world where justice isn’t served quite so easily.

The Originals season 3 premieres Thursday, October 8 at 9pm on the CW.

What do you think of our first look at Lucien?
