Clearly we won’t lose all the Mikaelsons, or The Originals would definitely need a name change. The real question is: Who might not make it?

The prophecy has loomed over the Mikaelsons heads all season long, and we know that according to it, one Mikaelson will fall “by foe,” one will fall “by friend,” and one will fall “by family.” Nearly 12 episodes or so ago, Elijah used a dagger to put Rebekah down for the count, eliminating the “by family” part of the prophecy. Thanks to reports that Claire Holt will be appearing in The Originals season 3 finale, we can surmise that she will be awoken by one or more of her siblings. Does that still negate the “by family” portion of the prophecy?

In order for the prophecy to be a true threat, there has to be a weapon around with the power to kill an Original vampire. Since we know that the remaining White Oak has been dispensed with, it fell to Lucien and the ancestors to provide the weapon. Little did we know that said weapon would be more of a creature than a stake or a bullet. By kidnapping and draining the venom of each of the different werewolf clans and adding a dollop of magic, the ancestors helped to create a super-Original with the power to end an Original with a single bite.

It was bad enough when Lucien was hopscotching around with this kind of power, and even worse when he added Aurora to his possible number, but now that Marcel is the lone super-Original? We’re more afraid than ever for the fate of the Mikaelsons.

They’ve effectively created their own destructor. Years of being treated as a second class citizen with a clan of people that called him family, people who showed up out of the blue and called for control of “their” city when he had been the one in control for decades if not centuries, started the ball rolling. Leaving Davina to her fate with the ancestors and refusing to help her was simply the last straw. Marcel has had enough of the Mikaelsons and their games. Frankly, it’s hard to blame him for his frustration. Lastly, Marcel had to die in order for him to become their worst nightmare, and Elijah was willing to sacrifice Marcel for his family’s safety, basically proving Marcel’s point once again.

So, do you think the Mikaelsons will escape Marcel’s wrath unscathed? Or will we be saying goodbye to another of their number before the door closes on The Originals season 3? Tune in to The Originals season 3 finale to find out. Oh, and make sure to vote in our poll and let us know who you think is in the most perilous position.
