The Originals is amping up the drama as we get closer to figuring out how exactly a friend, a foe, and a family member are going to fell the Mikaelson siblings.

Check out all the drama from tonight’s episode of The Originals season 3. We got a chance to see Rebekah (no matter how brief), and are getting closer to figuring out what exactly that prophecy meant.

Hey, Rebekah, what’s up?

Not only do we see Rebekah, the Eva-Sinclair-edition, at the beginning of this episode, but minutes into the episode, her witch throat is slit, and Rebekah re-awakens in her Original form. Oh, Claire Holt, how we’ve missed thee. We get to see her do some royal ass kicking of Aya and her minions. When she is horribly outnumbered, Freya’s projection arrives and knocks all the vampires out. It’s nice to see the Mikaelson sisters together again. It’s been all about the brothers for so long.

We don’t get much time with her before Aya gets her revenge. Aya steers her into a spelled space she cannot escape, then drives a wooden dagger through her heart. It’s not a White Oak stake though, so Rebekah will live to see another day, but she will sleep for a long time until then.

Detective Kinney with the chef’s knife in the loft

So, Lucien wants something that was previously taking refuge in Cami’s closet of witchy artifacts. It’s a medallion, and he had all of the boxes of evidence that Detective Kinney had carted to the precinct brought to his loft. To get Cami to bow to his will since she’s a perpetual vervain-drinker (smart girl), he compels Detective Kinney to cut an artery on his ankle. Cami has a ticking clock to beat. She tries to outsmart Lucien by convincing him to heal Kinney before presenting him with a skull that sends him into fits of extreme pain, but it doesn’t last long enough for her to escape. Instead, he compels Kinney to slice his own throat. Cami stops him just in time, though, and hands over the item holding the real medallion.

Hayley gets her hybrid on

Hayley was on her way to see Davina when she noticed a dude following her. She doubled back into an alley and, after a struggle, bit him and knocked him out. She takes him to Marcel to get some help, and Marcel calls Elijah. Apparently this is no normal crony. This guy is a legendary enforcer and Elijah instructs Marcel to kill him immediately before he can even wake up. Of course this doesn’t exactly go to plan. Marcel, Hayley, and Chen Min fight, and it’s looking bad for the honorary Mikaelsons. Chen Min is literally holding their hearts in his hands when Elijah arrives and drives a stake through the guy’s stomach. Close call, that one.

They don’t get much info out of the guy, but Elijah does learn he was tasked with taking Hayley out of the equation so Tristan could get to Davina. Before Elijah can find out what Tristan wants with Davina, Chen Min rips off his daylight ring and burns right before their eyes. Crisis averted… sort of.

The perfect time for a stroll

While everyone else is running around trying to save people and get answers, Klaus is giving Aurora a tour of the city. He takes her to lunch, walks her through the cemetery, and ultimately ends up showing her a painting he did of her a couple centuries ago. He proves his love for her. Next time we see them, Aurora is waking up naked in his bed, and Klaus had just received the call about Rebekah.

Before Klaus can snap her neck in a fit of rage, she explains that Rebekah’s body is safe and sound. Her men outmaneuvered Aya’s (read: Tristan’s), and she will be keeping her sire’s body.

Elijah did a bad thing

Sometime in the past (meaning a long, long time ago) Elijah compelled the Original three sires to believe they were the Mikaelson siblings. He used them as a decoy to keep Mikael confused and guessing. It worked. Tristan, Aurora, and Lucien ran from Mikael for more than a century before the compulsion broke. They made a pact of vengeance and spent a long time looking for a weapon to kill an Original. We don’t know whether they were successful, but since the prophecy has all three Mikaelsons dying in one way or another, it’s not too big a leap to think they found something.

The million dollar question: What is a Seratura?

In her explanation to Klaus, Aurora talks of a Seratura. Apparently, it’s a magical object that can trap people for safe keeping. She, Tristan, and Lucien are planning to use it to keep the Mikaelson siblings safe permanently, but also out of the picture.
