The Originals season 3 continued tonight with one hell of an episode. See how Davina, Hayley, Klaus, and Lucien are all making moves that could seal their own fates this season.

Operation ‘Find our Hybrid lady-love’

Jackson refuses to stay hidden in the woods while Elijah tries to find Hayley. Both are worried she’s amongst the fallen. Hayley’s suitors go to Klaus to ask what he knows about Kingmaker and the poachers they encountered in the bayou. When Klaus talks of Lucien and his forboding prophecy, Elijah and Jackson leave to go see Lucien.

Lucien thinks he’s safe from Elijah behind his boundary spell that keeps any vampire of a different sire line (other than Klaus’) out of his penthouse, but, while he mouths off, Elijah throws a wooden stake through his throat from outside the boundary and then sics Jackson on him. He attacks and bites Lucien, leaving him in need of a little of Klaus’ blood.

Lucien lies to Klaus about the severity of Jackson’s bite. Does Lucien have a supply of the Original hybrid’s blood on hand? It’s the only explanation. A bit later, we see Lucien inject himself with something that heals the wolf bite in seconds, literally before our eyes.

Davina shows her strength: Hayley

Hayley is none too happy with Davina keeping her from Hope on the one night of the month she can hold her in her arms. Davina tells her about what she needs done.

Davina begs for understanding from Celeste Dubois’ spirit when, halfway through trying to free the Crescent wolves from the curse, she begins bleeding from the eyes. Her pleas are heard and just as abruptly as they started to turn, both Jackson and Hayley stop turning. Has she finally freed them?

Just as Hayley finishes her task (killing Kara, the witch who challenged and attacked Davina at the witch council meeting last episode), her head explodes into vicious pain as a host of witches flood the scene. She somehow escapes and shows up at the Mikaelson homestead looking for Klaus. When he arrives, she goes nuclear on his ass, slapping him and kicking him, begging him to fight back. She screams about how all she wanted for their little girl was something better than what her parents did for her, and what Klaus’ parents did for him. She just wants a better life for Hope. It seems that Klaus is finally starting to see that, as Hayley’s eyes land on a toddling Hope. Hayley slowly approaches her daughter, scooping her into her arms and muttering about all the things she’s missed while stuck in wolf form all these months.

Elijah proposes a solution to Klaus and Hayley’s impasse. Elijah suggests Hayley and Jackson move into the apartments across the street. Hope won’t be out of Klaus’ earshot. Hayley instructs them to put the lease in Jackson’s name so Klaus will be unable to enter the premises.

A pile of burned witch bodies is discovered by Marcel and their families. Davina arrives and begs them to become a part of the regency she governs, thereby bringing them under the protection of the ancestors. Moments after we see her impassioned speech to them, Marcel asks if this was her doing. She all but admits it to him, telling him that it was he who suggested a show of force to ensure her position as regent.

Hayley remembers her actions that night as she looks upon herself killing those witches. Whether it was Davina’s intent to kill just Kara or the other 10 witches that died as well is not clear, but the purpose was. One of the departed witches’ sons steps forward to threaten Davina. He promises to do everything he can to prove that this was Davina’s doing, and when he is successful, he will erase her existence from the Quarter.

A happy Jackson and Hayley move into their new apartment as Klaus looks morosely on from across the street.

The human faction

Cami is doing her homework to help Detective Will Kinney with the murder investigations going on in the city. She puts two and two together and thinks she knows that Lucien is the perpetrator of these murders. When she goes to Klaus, he all but confirms her suspicions.

Will Kinney startles our young, blonde psychologist when he sneaks up on her outside Rousseau’s. He and Cami have a chat in which he lets her know none too subtly that he knows about the O’Connell family history and hasn’t figured out what Cami is hiding yet, but he will. Will then takes things into his own hands and steals Cami’s laptop from her. He looks at her research and sees her deductions regarding the killer and Lucien Castle’s possible involvement.

In a temple far, far away

Aurora is anxious to escape her confines, and we meet the elusive Tristan we’ve heard so much about. She begs him to take her with him, but he refuses her request. He injects her with something to subdue her, but leaves her a message with the monks. He instructs them to tell her that he will bring her a gift from New Orleans when he returns.

Everything’s coming up Freya

Early on in the episode, Freya is out getting her groove on after Elijah takes Hope back, and Marcel shows up to warn her away before she becomes vampire chow. She grabs herself an attractive boy toy and escapes the club. She takes the gentleman home, but before she can get further than a peck on the lips, Klaus interrupts and scares the boy away. He needs some help of the witchy variety. He asks her for a locator spell to tell him where Hayley is.

Freya tries to locate Hayley, but finds nothing. Jackson pleads with her to try again as he starts changing into his wolf form, begging not to have to go a whole month without knowing his love’s fate.

Freya’s big prophecy

She uses a bowl of Klaus’ blood, laced with that of the seer he fed off of at Lucien’s party the night prior to evaluate the validity of Lucien’s claims. The spell takes quite a bit of effort on her part, but she learns that if this prophecy comes true, all three of the remaining Original siblings will die. Then she drops the final hammer about how the three will die: “One by friend, one by foe, and one by family.”
