We are living in a Kol-ful world now, and The Originals is a better show for it. Here’s our review of The Originals season 3, episode 15.

Last week’s episode brought a lot of changes to the show. Some we saw coming, others we couldn’t have predicted in our wildest dreams. There are a lot of things the Mikaelsons are going to have to get used to, and they are never at their best when feeling powerless, especially Klaus. Check out my highlights of The Originals season 3, episode 15.

Nothing’s gonna harm you. Not while Kol’s around.

Kol didn’t take long to choose the Mikaelsons over Davina. Sure, it was a pretty innocent choice as Klaus and Elijah were eager to catch him up on all the things he’s missed since he died last season, but still. Hopefully his loyalty to his family and his loyalty to Davina will find a way to converge at some point.

It was wonderful to see that Kol and Freya have so much in common. Kol has always been at odds with Klaus and Elijah, and has only found a few moments for him and Rebekah to see eye to eye, so it’s lovely to see a member of the family take to him so quickly. Not to mention that he’s a great resource for her. His knowledge of magic is second to none.

Ultimately, Kol did right by Davina in this episode, making time for her even in the midst of trying to save his brother from the army of enemies headed to New Orleans to end him. I can’t remember the last time we saw Davina smile as much as she has this episode. Her happiness has been a long time coming.

Hayley wants them. Dead or not alive.

I can’t say I blame Hayley for going full badass on the Strix responsible for killing Jackson in front of her eyes. Their cruelty in that act was repaid in both Hayley’s vengeance, and Elijah’s as well. While I’m heartbroken that Hayley and Elijah can’t seem to get their act together, it’s easy to hold onto the hope that someday they will allow themselves to love one another. Hayley has a lot of guilt over her feelings toward Elijah during Jackson’s life (and death), so until she gets a grip on her guilt, she’ll be on the road with Klaus and Hope, cloaked by Kol’s spell and safe from the hoards of Klaus-sired-vampires that want revenge.

Cami trains *cue ‘Rocky’ soundtrack*

Cami made a lot of progress in tonight’s episode. It’s nice to see that she’s made peace with her new vampire life, and is working to protect herself. Klaus’ decision in last week’s crossover to keep Aurora alive, walled up in a tomb where she can be kept from hurting people didn’t exactly go over well with Cami. She knows that poetically it sounds great to make your enemies suffer fates worse than death, but sometimes, death in the supernatural world is just cleaner. Aurora still being alive means that someday, way down the line, Cami is going to have to be able to fight Aurora off to protect herself. She is preparing herself for all the possible terrors that future can bring.

Last, but certainly never least

Vincent Griffith has the most powerful weapon in the world in his hands. The beginning of the episode told us all about the lengths Klaus went to assure that every last splinter of the White Oak has been destroyed, and even after all his precautions, he’s still paranoid that he missed something. It isn’t until the episode’s final moments that we see Vincent get his hands on the final wooden bullet. He holds in his hand the power to end an Original. The only question left is: Will he use it?

And one more surprise…

FINN?! Is that you? The whos, whats, wheres, whens, whys, and hows may still need to be reconciled, but Finn Mikaelson has returned. All the Mikaelson children are alive and free on the Earth at the same time. It may be time to prepare for the end times. This cannot end well.
