Veronica Mars alum Jason Dohring will be appearing as a potential vampire hunting detective on The Originals season 3, and may be romancing Cami as well.
Last week at SDCC, we learned that a new detective would be making his way to the forefront of the drama on The Originals this season, and now we know Veronica Mars alum, Jason Dohring, will be playing him.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Dohring will be playing Will Kinney, a detective that doesn’t know about the supernatural craziness in the Quarter, but suspects that something is just not right.
When Julie Plec told us last week at San Diego Comic-Con that a new detective would be working with Cami this season, we wondered if there would be more to the guy than we thought. This casting hints that he will be playing a major role in the new season. You don’t put a guy like Jason Dohring on screen and make him a background character.
Leah Pipes also hinted that this new character might be more than just an ally for Cami, and we can’t wait to see Cami get the romancing her character deserves. The two will be working to keep the humans safe, even if Will Kinney is unaware that vampires, werewolves, and witches are causing all the trouble.
It’s unclear how much interaction this detective will have with the Mikaelson family or their first sires, who we learned will be the main antagonist this season, but we can only imagine that he will at least see the aftermath of their work.
How long do you think Detective Will Kinney will stay in the dark? Only time and Julie Plec can tell. For now we can just continue speculating on how big a role Jason Dohring’s character will play, and desperately hope that he sticks around longer than just one season.
