After this week’s episode of The Originals aired, Julie Plec answered many questions about what’s ahead for the foreseeable future of the show. (Spoilers ahead!)
When the showrunner of The Originals sat down with reporters to answer some questions about what she and the other writers have in store for us when The Originals returns on February 25th, we got some great intel as to what we can expect to see.
Klaus and Rebekah
When asked about where we can expect to find Klaus and Rebekah now that they’ve been taken hostage by the witches, Julie went on to explain that they are being kept in an old sanitarium outside of the Quarter. We will see Genevieve (whose casting we reported on months ago) really step into her role as the vengeful torturer of Rebekah. Yes, she’s the one in the promo that talks about how “just because we can’t kill them, doesn’t mean we can’t destroy them.”
Monique
She was also asked whether Monique will be playing more of a villain role in the rest of The Originals season 1, and while she didn’t say yes, she also didn’t say no. Julie replied, “I think you have to look at her both as a villain and a victim. She was in this limbo state with what seems like direct access to angry ancestors who are very unflinching in their faith of their own abilities and their own people.”
Cami
The most intriguing detail to us came when asked about Cami’s role in the show. When reporters compared Cami’s character to that of Matt’s on The Vampire Diaries, as the human to ground the show, Plec hinted that Cami may have an opportunity to join the ranks of the supernatural before too long.
“We’re setting up Cami to be, in her own way, offered a place at the table and whether she takes it or not will be up to her.” She then goes on to talk about how Cami’s schooling and knowledge of how the brain works would make her an interesting candidate for the vampire life, and whether or not she would choose that life for herself.
