The cast and executive producers behind The Originals descended upon San Diego Comic-Con and had some intriguing details about what to expect in season 3!

It’s always a party when Julie Plec and her Originals come to town, and today was yet another great example of that. Check out five of the most interesting things we learned at the fan panel this afternoon.

1. There’s one extra scene that hints at the villains to come this season

The first of Klaus, Rebekah, and Elijah’s sires are definitely going to be causing some trouble this season, and in a sizzle reel full of our favorite moments, we got to see one little scene that hints that a couple of those someones from their past are coming for Original blood.

If you want to see the scene, check out the sizzle reel here, and see for yourself!

2. Freya will play an important part in this family

Freya wants peace in the family, and she is Switzerland between Klaus and Elijah, so it’s natural that she would be a valuable ally to both, especially when it comes to raising Hope. It seems that both men will be active in the raising of the child. Elijah is trying to help fill in for Hayley so that he can relate as much to Momma Hayley as he can when he takes baby Hope for her monthly visits while mom is human for a night.

3. Elijah will likely be leading the charge to save Hayley from the curse

Throughout the panel, Daniel Gilles (who plays Elijah) made it clear that while Hayley is married and Elijah is respectful of that, he also will always care for her and try to do right by her. We found it particularly endearing that when Julie was asked who would be leading the charge to figure out a way to reverse the curse Klaus plagued Hayley, Jackson, and their people with, she responded with Elijah. We can see Freya being a valuable ally to him in this, as she would also understand the importance of Hope having her mother around full time.

4. Klaus sees untapped darkness in Cami and it draws him to her

It wouldn’t be an Originals panel without a little shipper talk. While some of the shows’ more popular ships went unaddressed, there was a little discussion about what Klaus and Cami see in each other. Leah Pipes (who plays Cami) noted that Klaus can see the dormant darkness in Cami thanks to the O’Connell blood that runs in her veins. That untapped darkness is bound to attract a soul like Klaus who is just looking for someone who can fully understand his struggle between darkness and light. Julie went on to describe that Cami can sense that similarity, and that continues to draw her toward Klaus, even if he is the most dangerous creature she could involve herself with.

5. We will be seeing Kol! (And possibly Finn too!)

When Daniel Sharman’s version of Kol passed shortly into the spring season of the show, fans were crushed. Not only did Daniel do a fabulous job of portraying a beloved Original, but having Kol on screen for most of the season also reminded us of just how much we adore having the Original brother around. Good news! While he may only appear in flashbacks, Nathaniel Buzolic will be back early this season in some very important scenes. Julie then went on to hint that Finn, the only Mikaelson unmentioned, may also make appearances in those scenes. Family reunion, coming right up!
