Check out a new promo for The Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals, which spotlights Elijah (Daniel Gillies)!

The Originals premieres in October, but the team is already shooting the new pilot and the rest of season 1.

Check out this promo, which introduces Elijah and recaps a bit of what we’ve already seen in the backdoor pilot:

The Originals pilot airs Thursday, October 3 straight after The Vampire Diaries season 5 premiere.

The pilot episode will be different from the episode of The Vampire Diaries which aired this spring.

Where “The Originals” was very much centered on Klaus (Joseph Morgan), this new episode will show the same events from Elijah’s point of view, including how he came to learn of Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin)’s pregnancy.

At last month’s San Diego Comic-Con, The Originals cast and crew revealed more about what we can expect to see in the new series.

We have also learned that the second episode of season 1 will flash forward a couple of months, catching up The Originals to The Vampire Diaries season 5, which will see Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Caroline (Candice Accola) start college.

After the pilot episode, The Originals will air Tuesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
