Those still mourning the loss of Chasing Life will be happy to know Haley Ramm is returning to TV as The Originals’ newest witch.

New Orleans has been flooded with new vampires now that Tristan, Lucien, and Aurora have come to town, so it only seems fair that the witches add a couple new faces to their number as well, right?

EW learned that Haley Ramm, seen most recently as Brenna Carver on Chasing Life, will be bringing a new witch, Ariane, to the Quarter. She will appear first in episode 11, and is described as being “a powerful, ethereal witch from a coven that practices a dangerous type of dark magic.”

They go on to talk about how intelligent and self-assured she is, while also preparing us for her ability to creep us out. Sounds a little familiar, huh? Davina embodies many of those qualities, so we are eager to see these two in action. Will they be instant enemies, or is it possible that there may be an unlikely kinship down the road for them? We can only wait and see what Julie Plec and company have in store for us.

We haven’t had a lot of new witches, especially ones that have lasted, in a long time. Besides Davina, most of the witches that appeared on screen have died. Sophie Devereaux, the Harvest girls, Jane-Anne Devereaux, Josephine, even Kaleb, and oh so many more have been slaughtered during whatever battles the Mikaelsons have fought. The lone exception to this rule has always been Davina, so it would be nice to see another witch stick around for a while.

Would you prefer Ariane to be Davina’s ally or her enemy? We know that Davina wants to see Kol be resurrected sooner rather than later, so just because Ariane is a purveyor of dark magic, doesn’t mean she has to be the enemy. Maybe she alone will have a solution to bringing him back.

Do you think Ariane will be friend or foe to Davina, the new Regent in New Orleans?
