There’s never a dull moment when the Mikaelsons all get together, but when you add in the fake Mikaelsons as well, things are bound to get truly crazy on The Originals season 3.

Sitting down to dinner

Freya’s locator spells aren’t working, and Elijah and Freya are desperate to get their hands on Rebekah’s body. In order to try and drive a wedge between the Fake-alsons (and get the details of where Rebekah’s body is), Elijah and Klaus invite Tristan, Lucien, and Aurora over for Thanksgiving dinner. They frame it as a chance to air a few grievances and let all their secrets out into the open, but it quickly devolved into madness. More on that later.

Aurora’s greatest ruse yet

So, at the beginning of the episode, Aurora left two envelopes in a casket to greet Tristan at the airport. He was expecting to see Rebekah Mikaelsons’ body, so this was a bit of a disappointment. Imagine his surprise when his sister’s insubordination ended up being quite the lifesaver. Klaus and Elijah are desperate to get their hands on Rebekah, and were willing to do pretty much anything to get her back. Aurora took the exact coordinates of Rebekah’s body, which is hanging out at the bottom of an ocean somewhere, and had one of her minions split them onto two cards. She then killed the minion, so the only way to find Rebekah is by keeping both her and Tristan alive. Pretty ingenious, huh?

Can we just talk about Cami’s level of snark?

Who knew that being held captive until the vervain could leave her system would amp up Cami’s snark levels? If you weren’t already in love with this character, watching her belittle Lucien while he got ready to go dine with the Mikaelsons was probably the push you needed. Putting aside any shipping allegiances, it’s easy to see that, especially for a human, Cami has a backbone and isn’t going to just lay down and die because a supernatural jerk is bossing her around. When you throw in her genius escape later in the episode, you must admire her pluck.

When her captor, Anton, instructs her to have a drink, Cami takes it on as her new plan. She drinks a couple of beers, and pretends to be way drunker than might be true. When she sees her opportunity, she smashes a beer bottle over Anton’s head, then uses the sharp edges of the broken bottle to cut off his finger wearing his daylight ring. Anton then had to flee to the shadows, and she was free to rush to the elevator. If only Aurora hadn’t been coming for a visit at exactly that moment. This will not end happily.

Mikaelsons and Fake-elsons tuck in for Thanksgiving

There was a lot of back and forth in their conversations tonight, but the Mikaelsons had two basic goals at this farce of a holiday feast: 1) Get the location of Rebekah’s body out of Aurora and 2) Find a way to get into the Fake-elsons heads and weaken their alliance (and maybe get them to admit to said alliance… you know, if there’s time).

They aren’t exactly successful on either front. The three never really admit to loyalties beyond the familial bonds of Tristan and Aurora, which the Mikaelsons already knew. Everyone played nice, but that means nothing, as even Klaus can be cordial when he wants something. When Aurora finally crossed the line for Klaus, he snapped Tristan’s neck and basically announced his intentions to keep him captive. He cited the sibling for a sibling exchange as his reason for doing so. Aurora is flabbergasted by Klaus’ treachery and is more angry than ever as she stomps out of the Mikaelson compound.

Can’t we just let Davina be?

When Marcel and Davina met up at his gym in this episode, we hoped things wouldn’t go badly. Basically, Marcel warned Davina that the Strix want to use her to imprison the Originals, and if she doesn’t coalesce to their plan, they’ll hurt her anyway. In order to avoid Davina having to deal with any of the Strix business, Marcel wants to get her out of New Orleans entirely. Davina is taken aback by his suggestion, taking time to remind him that she is not the little girl in the attic in need of his protection anymore.

Marcel’s warning to Davina didn’t have the desired effect, so he goes to Vincent to see if he has any ideas. Vincent warns Marcel that he isn’t going to like what he has planned. Vincent goes to the cemetery to see Davina and warn her much as Marcel did. He employed the use of a ‘willow hoop’ to let her entire coven of witches watch their conversation as it happened. When Davina admits to killing those witches to stop things from spiraling into war, they have all the ammunition they need to get rid of Davina. Vincent plays host as they officially shun her from the Quarter. She is no longer welcome. Watching the pain of being cut off from the ancestors and every witch in the Quarter was awful, and we had trouble believing that any part of this could be for Davina’s own good.

A few more important details

  1. Jackson is not happy about Hayley running off whenever the Mikaelsons call.
  2. Locator spells only work for dry land.
  3. Klaus made the stuffing… Lol.
  4. Lucien handed the medallion, the Fake-elsons’ greatest weapon, over to Klaus.
  5. Aurora bit Cami and stuffed her in her car trunk.
