The Office U.K. creator and star Ricky Gervais says in a new interview he’s planning to bring his iconic character David Brent to the big screen.

The original Office ran for just two seasons on BBC2 in the early 2000s, and then Gervais’ David Brent character disappeared from pop culture until he was revived in May 2013 on a YouTube channel called “Guitar Lessons with David Brent.

A cover story in this week’s new edition of The Hollywood Reporter indicates that Gervais “plans to sign a record deal for his Office character,” and he “hopes [the YouTube channel] will be the basis for a movie about Brent trying to make it in the music industry.”

It’s not clear how connected The Office would be to this film, but Gervais wants to take the character and turn him into his own entity. At the least, viewers of a potential movie would get the same sense of humor as they did when they watched the U.K. Office.

Next for Gervais is his Netflix original series Derek which premieres this September. You can watch a trailer in our previous story.
