The Night Shift season 1, episode 7 was intense as a gunman took several of the doctors hostage and not everyone made it out alive. Check out our recap and share your thoughts on “Blood Brothers.”

The Gunman

The opening scene is intense as a guy walks into the MRI room and hits TC with a gun, demanding that they get the patient to talk. The scene cuts to three hours earlier when TC and Topher head out to a plane crash site. On the ride TC starts to have flashbacks of his brother’s death.

At the scene the pilot is dead but one man is alive. He says that they were on a golf trip but TC finds drugs in his pockets. Once they get back to the hospital a DEA agent is there waiting for the passengers on the plane. He takes the drugs and demands to speak to the injured man.

The DEA agent harasses TC and Topher again as they are trying to work on the man. He is agitated and makes an ominous phone call to someone about the patient.

In a flashback TC is with his brother and Topher in Afghanistan and they are having a dance off during down time, as you do. Topher and TC are talking about Jordan, who TC is going to ask to marry him. Just as the conversation ends a bomb explodes in the area sending everyone undercover.

The DEA agent, who shockingly (sarcasm) isn’t a DEA agent, sneaks down to the MRI room and demands to speak to the patient. TC and Topher tell him to go away and we return to the opening scene except it gets worse. The guy shoots and kills Dwayne! TC and Topher are trapped with the man who is looking for his money. They explain that the man needs surgery but he doesn’t care.

Of course, Jordan goes looking for TC and Topher. Unfortunately she gets pulled into the room as the gunman is getting more and more agitated. Security finally manages to see what is happening and calls Ragosa. He calls in the SWAT team and tells Drew what is going on. There are several new victims coming in from a chemical fire and Ragosa puts Drew in charge of the ER.

Ragosa has to tell everyone what is going on and his speech is rather inspiring and very un-Ragosa like. He heads up to the second floor to learn about the plan from SWAT. In one of his finer moments, Ragosa, demands his people are kept safe and actually shows he cares for them.

The man tries to take Jordan as a hostage and leave but the Swat team drops in a flash grenade. TC protects Jordan and we see the rest of the flashback with his brother’s death. He then attacks the gunman, punching him repetitively. Once the smoke clears they realize that Topher has been shot and seriously wounded.

The Stripper

A stripper, Candy, arrives at the ER because she fell off her pole and hurt her neck. Commence stripper pole jokes in 3…2…1 Paul, of course, wants to be her doctor. Kenny gives him a quick anatomy lesson on where her eyes are in true Kenny style. The stripper is fine and set to leave but Paul offers her money to stay and help him in the relationship department. Paul is a virgin and seeks advice about sex from her.

Paul is talking with Candy and she is giving him a lap dance, explaining the birds and bees when suddenly she starts stuttering and collapses on his lap. Drew and Kenny arrive to help. She is having a stroke.

Drew confronts Kenny about his relationship. Kenny is pissed that Drew didn’t confide in him and says he is hurt by it. Drew explains it was more about him than Kenny and the bromance is renewed. Kenny then asks for Drew’s assistance with Krista.

The Fork

Krista tries to help a girl who seems to have swallowed a fork! Seriously, how does one swallow a fork? Krista manages to remove the fork but is concerned about her patient. She has signs of bulimia and Krista confesses that she too had bulimia in high school. She tells the girls she will get her help but her parents refuse to get her help. Krista argues with Landry and is reprimanded by Jordan.

The girl is devastated that she can’t get help and in an extreme measure she swallows a scalpel. Krista and Jordan remove the scalpel. Krista confronts the parents and convinces them that she needs help.

This episode was so intense and ended on a cliffhanger. Next week’s episode is the last of the season and hopefully the Topher situation will be resolved. He has to be okay right? They can’t kill off Topher. What would happen to TC? Next week can’t come soon enough.
