The Night Shift season 1, episode 6 was an emotional roller coaster as Drew faced his biggest fears and TC had to make a tough choice about Jordan. Check out our recap and share your thoughts on “Coming Home.”

Drew has a nice conversation with Rick who is on his way to see him and within minutes a call comes in that there is a bus crash with soldiers. Drew freaks out and rightfully so. When the victims arrive Rick is unconscious and Scott believes they have to amputate his leg. Drew begs TC to save him.

Scott is suspicious of TC and Jordan as they arrived together at the hospital. Jordan goes to speak with Scott about the craziness of the surgery schedule and he calls her out on being with TC. She lies to Scott about why she was with him.

Krista is working on stitching up a soldier and he begins hitting on her. Topher encourages him to flirt with Krista. Meanwhile Paul is working with a patient who insists on calling him Doogie Howser because he looks so young. At one point everyone starts chanting Doogie.

Rick wakes up and sees Drew, tells him he was going to make him an omelet. There are others in room and TC quickly ushers them out before Rick says more. Drew speaks with him briefly before making him rest more. He then goes and punches a locker until Krista comes in to speak with him.

Jordan speaks with TC about lying to Scott. They talk briefly about the kiss but nothing is resolved as Scott demands to see TC in the OR. Scott confronts TC about trying to save Rick’s leg. The two argue and Scott is clearly fighting about more than the operation. Scott makes the brilliant decision to punch TC. Clearly he wasn’t thinking that through.

Scott and TC are reprimanded by Ragosa. They are both ego maniacs but Scott makes the wrong move by demanding TC leave Jordan alone. Jordan arrives and is told to deal with them. She confesses to Scott that TC had come to see her and he doesn’t take it well. Seriously, he had no idea they were still friends?

Topher gives TC some advice that he doesn’t like. He tells TC to walk away from Jordan because he isn’t ready to be a good boyfriend and he may never be. TC doesn’t know what to do with this but you get he feeling that he understands what Topher is saying.

Drew talks with Rick about his leg. Rick is insistent on Drew telling him the truth and when Scott comes in to look at it they realize it has to be amputated. Rick refuses the amputation and tells everyone to go away including Drew. He is clearly torn but given that no one really knows about their relationship there is little Drew can do to talk with him.

Kenny discovers that Ragosa has a dating profile. Kenny approaches Ragosa about his profile and cuts him a deal. Kenny feeds his ego and tells him he could be like Johnny Depp to single moms. Ragosa likes the compliments and seems to be thinking about it. Kenny is so funny he needs more screen time. Kenny realizes that Ragosa has a crush on Landry and gives a pep talk, kind of.

Landry goes in to speak with Rick and Drew is there. As he tries to explain why he doesn’t want to lose his leg Drew tries interjecting positive statements to hide his opinion. Rick calls Drew out on being afraid and tips Landry off that there is something between them. Drew leaves the room clearly upset.

Meanwhile Krista and Topher work on the guy who was flirting with her. She agreed to go on a date with him but something isn’t right. He is sicker than before and they all rush to save his life. Unfortunately, he dies from the illness that no one knew he had. Krista is devastated and Topher blames himself.

In probably the most selfless thing TC has ever done he tells Jordan he won’t tell Scott about what happened. He isn’t sorry about what happened between them because she didn’t stop what he started but he wouldn’t interfere with her relationship. Jordan looks surprised by this and it is exactly how the rest of us feel. Did he really give up the girl?

In a gut wrenching moment Drew tells Rick that he will drug him and cut his leg off himself. Rick says he is scared and tries to hold Drew’s hand but he refuses. Krista tells Drew to go with Rick because he is scared. He says he can’t but Krista calls him on the bull and says to never tell her how tough he is again if he can’t do this. Drew runs up to Rick in front of the soldiers and his co-workers and kisses Rick.

This episode certainly pulled on the heart strings and it was nice to see Drew finally own his feelings. Next week’s episode looks to be incredibly intense as Jordan, TC, and Topher are trapped in a room with a gun wielding crazy man.

There was also some good news today about season two, it is definitely happening and will have six additional episodes!
