The Night Shift season 1, episode 5 was chaos as a storm ravaged San Antonio Memorial. Check out our recap and share your thoughts on “Storm Warning.”

The episode opens with a horrible storm hitting San Antonio and the night shift is short staffed due to the weather. It should be noted that this episode was directed by ER veteran Eric La Salle.

Ragosa is determined to make Scott part of San Antonio Memorial but others aren’t so keen. Cott says he isn’t sure if he wants to make the move and Jordan is rather mum on the topic. Due to the lack of staff Scott is granted privileges so he joins TC on a search and rescue much to Jordan’s dismay.

The power cut out at the hospital and Ragosa tells Jordan that they have limited backup generators and the power plant is down. A man enters the ER with a knife sticking out of his chest asking for Landry. He turns out to be her father and she isn’t happy to see him.

TC and Scott rescue a mother and son from a collapsing trailer. The mother is badly wounded, as they return to the ER Scott tries to take charge and is unimpressed by TC’s ability to solve the problem quickly. He also doesn’t like TC’s take charge attitude although he is impressed with the excitement of the night shift.

Topher gets a phone call from his wife who is having the twins on the side of the highway. He leaves in a panic and Ragosa manages not be a jerk. Topher gets to the accident scene and is giving his daughter directions on how to help her mother because he can’t find them. Let’s just say the girl will need therapy after that.

Paul is assigned to take care of the boy from the trailer park whose mother is in surgery. He actually manages to be entertaining. Paul realizes that there may be something wrong with the boy and takes him for a CAT scan. The tech guy is a jerk but Paul finally shows us what he is made of and he is pretty fierce. In the end Paul ends up saving the child.

Landry’s father is looking for money and refuses to leave. He is nasty to her because she won’t give him money. She calls him out on all the things he did to her as she was growing up. As she leaves everyone outside has heard including TC and Jordan. TC tries to help her but she calls him out on the fact that he and Jordan have unresolved feelings. She ends the relationship.

Topher manages to deliver the first baby but the second on is breech. He sends his daughter out to call TC for help. TC can’t leave the hospital but he manages to get his bookie to pick them up and bring them to the hospital.

The ER loses power again. TC, Drew, and Jordan start to find ways to get lights in the ER. Drew calls in his army reserve friends to help maintain the situation. Landry outs Ragosa as having medical training so he can help in the ER.

Scott starts asking others about TC and how he behaves. The nurses tell him that TC is intense but great and that he makes a great team with Jordan. As Scott is working on the mother they saved he realizes something is wrong and calls for TC. Seems like Scott the surgeon needs TC after all. Once the woman is saved Scott tells TC he is taking the job and things are going to change.

Drew and Krista kiss in order to keep everyone from setting them up with others. By the end of the shift Drew learns that Rick is coming home. He is overjoyed and while Krista is thrilled for him she seems sad in general.

Landry’s father tells her he needs the money because the people will take it out on her mother. Landry calls to confirm this and begs her mother to leave. Landry ends up confiding in Ragosa and he lends her the money. He seems to be the most compassionate with her. Is this the beginning of a new romance?

TC and Jordan help deliver Topher’s baby and afterwards have a heart to heart. TC apologizes for how he acted in the past. Jordan says they were always friends and things were feeling good between them again. In an impulsive moment TC kisses Jordan and she doesn’t push away until they are interrupted by Kenny.

The episode closes with Ragosa announcing Scott and Jordan as the power couple of the ER.

Next week’s episode looks intense as Jordan tries to figure out who is best for her between TC and Scott. It seems Scott may have found out that something happened with TC. Topher tells TC to leave Jordan alone. All in all, “Coming Home” looks like an intense episode.
