The Newsroom season 2, episode 7 “Red Team III” just finished airing, and we’re all glad to finally get the full story behind the Rebecca Halliday interviews and the Genoa story airing.

After last week’s promo, we were all excited to see tonight’s episode, and it did not disappoint! After weeks and weeks of build up, it’s nice to get a fuller picture of just how badly this Genoa story will affect our favorite news team.

Threads unravel as discoveries were made about the Genoa story and the witnesses the provided their statements. After much scrutiny, studying, and some detective work made by Mackenzie and the team at ACN they were able to reveal that not only did Jerry alter the video footage of the General admitting to using sarin gas, but their other two witness stories didn’t hold up as well as they were hoping.

That on top of Charlie’s source wanting revenge for the firing and death of his son, turns out that Genoa was nothing but a mirage.

The episode ends with a fantastic exchange between Leona, Charlie and Mac in which they offer their resignation but Leona does not accept and she tells Charlie to get the trust of their viewers back. We’re anticipating the rest of the season to do just that.

We also got a promo for next week’s episode, the beginning of the two part finale, “Election Night, Part 1” and it looks like another great episode for The Newsroom season 2.

What did you think of ‘The Newsroom’ season 2, episode 7, ‘Red Team III’?
