Fans of The Newsroom are pretty much in agreement that last week’s episode was one of the very best of the series. HBO has now released a look inside the episode as Aaron Sorkin talks all about the events behind “Red Team III.”

“Red Team III” is one of the best episodes of The Newsroom season 2, and probably of the series as a whole. HBO released an inside look at that episode this week, and Aaron Sorkin addresses why the Genoa storyline fits the model he has set up for how The Newsroom only uses real events to tell the story.

He also goes on to talk about Charlie’s role in The Newsroom season 2, episode 7 including his role in the airing of Genoa, as well as the unfortunate backstabbing that occurred from someone whom he considered a friend.

How do you think the team at News Night is going to recover from the events of “Red Team III?”

This season has relied heavily on flashbacks and multiple timelines, but for the most part, we seem to be caught up in everyone’s storylines to Election Night, where we could be seeing Will, Mac, and Charlie’s last broadcast at ACN as they have all tried to hand in their resignations to a (rather intoxicated) Leona Lansing.

Only time (and 2 more episodes) will tell what is in store for Will, Charlie, and Mac, but we can be sure that the last two episodes of The Newsroom season 2 are going to be intense.

What are you most looking forward to seeing in ‘The Newsroom’ episode 8, ‘Election Night’?
