While we may not know much about what Aaron Sorkin and company have in store for the rest of The Newsroom season 2, we did get a promo after tonight’s airing of episode 3, “Willie Pete” for episode 4.

The events of The Newsroom season 2, episode 3, “Willie Pete” have begun to frame just how serious the trouble that the News Night staff might be into in the flash forward scenes we keep getting, and when you add the events of the promo for next week’s still untitled episode, we are starting to understand what Sorkin meant when he said that Maggie’s life was about to unravel.

After seeing Mac and Charlie’s reactions to the Genoa Tip and their need to impress upon the staff that this is more than just an impeachable offense, but will be seen as a war crime, we have to admit that we are more than a little bit worried about what could happen as the season continues.

Also, with Maggie and Gary running off to Africa in the near future, and clearly having to deal with a lot more trouble than they predicted, what this could mean for them?

We got to see Jim lead a charge against the sub-par treatment of the reporters on the press bus, but to no real avail. Now it seems he will have to lead his charge from outside the cushy press cabin, and will do so with only two at his side.

Neal’s desire to see something come of the Occupy Wall Street movement is almost painful as we all know that he isn’t wrong, and yet is having to deal with the ridicule and mocking of Mac and the rest of the staff for the time being. Surely there isn’t anyone out there not eagerly awaiting Neal’s looming, “I told you so.”

Sloan is still classic Sloan, standing up to her EP, Zane, and putting her foot down when it comes to stock recommendations. She is one of the few characters that seems to be making serious career progress in season 2. Not only did she get to co-chair the 9/11 coverage as seen in last week’s episode, “The Genoa Tip,” but she is clearly getting her way on her own segment, and refusing to be bullied by anyone, including her EP. We just hope she keeps it up.

And here’s the promo for next week’s episode, unofficially titled “Unintended Consequences” (still no official word from HBO):
