The first trailer for HBO’s The Nevers is here, and it’s bound to get you excited to tune into the new series come April.

HBO’s newest original series will find viewers taking a dive into Victorian era London— but not one they’ve ever read about in text books. Instead, The Nevers is set in a London inhabited by “Touched”— a group of individuals (mostly women) who suddenly manifest abnormal abilities, some of which are charming, some very disturbing.

The first trailer for The Nevers sets up the premise of how some became Touched, while also delving into the fear that exists among those who have not.

“Society fears what it cannot understand,” tweeted the series’ official Twitter account along with the teaser trailer. “Experience the power of The Nevers, a new original series coming this April on HBO.”

In addition, the first teaser for the HBO original series also shines a spotlight on the series’ two leading ladies— Amalia True (Laura Donnelly), a mysterious, quick-fisted widow, and Penance Adair (Ann Skelly), a brilliant young inventor. Together, they find themselves championing for this new underclass of individuals, while fighting the forces of evil.

Created and executive produced by Joss Whedon, The Nevers also stars Olivia Williams, James Norton, Tom Riley, Rochelle Neil, Eleanor Tomlinson, Amy Manson, Pip Torrens, Denis O’Hare, Zackary Momoh, Elizabeth Berrington, Kiran Sawar, Anna Devlin, Viola Prettejohn, Ella Smith, Nick Frost and Ben Chaplin.

The Nevers debuts in April on HBO and HBO Max.
