If you can’t wait for the new Muppets television series this fall on ABC, you’re in luck: The 10-minute pilot is now online!

The studio behind the Muppets created this pilot as a way to convince ABC to green light this new documentary-style series. As we reported earlier this year, the network loved this pilot and decided to give The Muppets a series order.

In this 10-minute episode (which wasn’t supposed to ever be released), Kermit informs the Muppets gang that ABC has offered them a new television series. Most of the puppets are intrigued by the news, but one of the most important characters is missing from the meeting: Miss Piggy. Kermit finds her on a film set where she’s working on her budding film career.

The Muppets pilot hints at potential plot lines, including one involving Fozzie dating a human lady. There are also a slew of celebrity cameos — a sign of the show’s interest in bringing on a bunch of A-list stars throughout the season?

This preview also played at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this month, where it received rave reviews from attendees. The panel even concluded with a standing ovation from Muppet-devotees. It looks like ABC has a big new hit on their hands!

According to a synopsis, this series is “a contemporary, documentary-style show that, for the first time ever, will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, break-ups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires; a more adult Muppet show, for kids of all ages.”

What do you think of ‘The Muppets’ pilot?

And more importantly, will you be tuning in later this year? The Muppets premieres Tuesday, September 22 at 8 p.m. eastern/pacific on ABC. Hypable plans to be covering it all season.
