The Mortal Instruments is set to release August 23 in theaters but there is plenty coming out to hold you over. Check out the covers and the descriptions of the three new books below.
Mark your calendars, EW revealed that on July 9 brings three new titles releasing simultaneously: The Official Illustrated Companion, Shadowhunter’s Guide, and the City of Bones Movie Tie-in Edition.
The Official Illustrated Companion contains behind-the-scenes look at the making of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie, including interviews/quotes from the author, director, actors, and crew.
The Shadowhunter’s Guide is not the same as the Shadowhunter’s Codex which will be coming out October 29 and was written by Clare and her husband. The Shadowhunter’s Guide will be an introduction to the world of the Shadowhunters as portrayed in the movie, including character bios, the different factions/species/affiliations, and a look at the important locations, runes, and weapons of the children of the Nephilim.
The movie tie-in will have the movie poster as the cover.
The first book in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones introduces us to Clary Fray and the Shadowhunter world. Lily Collins is set to play Clary, while Jamie Campbell Bower is set to play Jace. Joining them in the Shadowhunter world will be Robert Sheehan, Jemima West, Kevin Zegers, and Godfrey Gao. The screenplay has been written by I. Marlene King, the script writer for Pretty Little Liars, and Jessica Postigo. The film is set for release on August 23, 2013.
