Sadly, The Mindy Project will be wrapping up after season 6 according to Mindy Kaling.
The Mindy Project season 5 finale just aired earlier this week, and the shows creator Mindy Kaling has already planned for next season to be its last. When The Mindy Project season 6 returns in September on Hulu it will be working towards wrapping up Mindy’s story.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly Mindy Kaling teased the final season and her excitement to dive into the new territory of marriage with her character Mindy.
“The final season is the final time—it’s the best time—to confront what that reality is for her. And really, we’ve put her through the ringer,” Said Kaling. “It’s hard. I’m a romantic at heart. I believe that marriage is like, a sacred relationship, and I really like it, but I’m also single myself, so I see every side of it. It’s going to be really fun to explore.”

Following the news Hulu’s head of content, Craig Erwich released a statement:

This series has been part of Hulu since we launched the service and, thanks to Mindy’s incredibly unique voice and vision, has remained one of our most popular and beloved series over the past five years. While we can’t wait to see what Mindy has in store for what will undoubtedly be a fantastic sixth and final season, we know The Mindy Project will live on as fans will continue to watch, discover and re-live all of the best moments from the complete series on Hulu.”
