Danny and Mindy are facing the realities of her pregnancy while also trying to find a replacement doctor last night on The Mindy Project season 3, episode 17, “Danny Castellanos is My Nutritionist.”

Mindy is back in NYC and her morning sickness is in full swing. “Oops, sorry Bible.” It’s happening more than just in the morning though which leads Morgan to gift her with her own personalized barf bucket. So thoughtful, our Morgan. The real cause of drama for this episode is Mindy and Danny’s opposite pregnancy styles. Mindy is very laid back and wants to keep eating the way she has been. Meanwhile Danny is ready to create a brand new lifestyle for her and wants her to read a book called “Panic Womb.” How cute is he?!

Mindy and Danny have a skype call with Peter, who is still continuing to be her doctor from Texas, and he tells them that with her weight and age, she is at risk for a geriatric obese pregnancy. Mindy tries to beat him up via Skype and he puts Danny in charge of her diet which doesn’t sit well. Mindy finds it hard to change her ways, especially since Danny didn’t quit smoking like he said he had. Danny uses Mindy, Jeremy, and Tamra catching and shooting him with a BB gun as a chance to quit.

In the world of the office, Peter’s leaving and Mindy’s focus on her fertility clinic has left an open spot on their doctor roster. Jeremy arranges for a bunch of interviews but Mindy, with Morgan’s not really help, shoos them all out because she has the perfect solution. Her old college professor, Dr. Suzanne Phillips (played by guest star Vanessa Williams), is looking for something to do with all her free time. After her interview goes quite poorly, she declines their offer to work with them and they are still in need of a replacement.

Mindy is struggling with her new diet and after catching Danny smoking, completely ignores it. Her morning sickness is still horrible and it all builds to her throwing up on one of the doctor’s who was supposed interview for the job. He, rather kindly, sits her down and tells her that instead of morning sickness she has stressed induced morning sickness. He tells Danny that his approach to Mindy’s pregnancy is creating some of this stress and that when the baby comes he will want Mindy to be patient with him.

Mindy and Danny like the doctor, Adrian Bergdahl, so much that they offer him the job, without talking to Jeremy, but he accepts and seemingly has an enemy in Morgan. We will see how that plays out in future episodes. The end of the episode finds Mindy and Danny talking about their insecurities regarding the baby. Both are scared that they won’t know what to do and need the other person to be around. It’s refreshing to see them deal with the realities of what having a baby will mean for them.
