Mindy and Danny discuss their future and Jeremy realizes that even babies hate him tonight on The Mindy Project season 3, episode 10, “What About Peter?”

Danny has been the perfect manly boyfriend for Mindy. He can make a perfect steak in 10 minutes and put up shelves in their closet, but she needs Peter to take her to Rihanna book signings. After said signing, she storms her way into Peter’s apartment for the first time, and is horrified to find three other men living in it: Pube, Pubeless, and Bush. What actually horrifies her is the fraternity-like living situation they’re in, and she demands Peter find a way out.

While Danny meets with Ray, his backsplash guy, in his extra apartment next door (the one Mindy was going to rent during season 2), he gets an estimate about how much it’d be to knock down the adjoining wall. A few thousand dollars the legal way, a few hundred the illegal way — both of which pique Danny’s interest. He wants a bigger space for, y’know, a family down the line. Huh.

Mindy instead brings Peter by the apartment and he loves it. He is a grownup who is living like Jersey Shore’s The Situation and Danny very reluctantly rents it to him. That night, he cooks Danny and Mindy an amazing pot roast, which Danny loves and realizes, ‘Hey, this might not be so bad.’ But when Peter goes to sleep on his make-shift bed of newspapers, Mindy insists he crash on Danny’s couch for the night. Danny is less thrilled about this.

The next day, Danny comes home to a box full of un-filled cannolis and Peter using his shower. You can probably see where this is going — Danny assumes it’s Mindy and hops in. The laugh-out-loud moment of the night was definitely when Peter and Danny tried to escape the shower at the same time, their shoulders got caught, and all you could hear were the horrified screams of two men who would rather be anywhere but here.

When Mindy gets wind of Danny’s plans to combine the apartments, she tries to evict Peter. She loves Danny, and she is going to hold onto him until a coroner drags her away. Are we really supposed to believe that this is the first time she’s thought about a family with him? Absolutely not. But when she makes a comment to Danny about it, he freaks.

Even from his hospital bed after sliding out of the window of his apartment, Peter dispenses some great advice to Danny. Danny read her diary. He knows how she thinks — he says ‘room for family,’ she thinks Danny + Mindy babies, not Annette Castellano.

In the end, Danny and Mindy do have a real talk about their future together — moving into one or the other’s apartment, making things more permanent than they already are.

All this time, Jeremy and Morgan have been caring for Lauren’s son Henry as she tracks down her sister, who is following Kenny Chesney around the country. Poor Jeremy, trying to take care of baby Henry, who just wails whenever he’s holding him, and is perfectly adorable when Morgan holds him. Jeremy eventually finds that pratfalls and actually hurting himself make the baby laugh, and determined to have him be liked by the child, he endures the pain.

They eventually get Henry to sleep, but Morgan knocks over an entire bar cart worth of dishes and platters, so that whole plot line gets tossed out the window. There’s potential there.

Side note: Mindy’s hair was on point tonight — it looked spectacular in every scene. Also, we have been loving her BaubleBar jewelry, which costume designer Salvator Perez collaborated on to curate the collection.
