This week we have learned that Chris Sheffield and Joe Adler will be joining The Maze Runner movie. We’ll take this moment to recap all casting announcements made to date.

Details on The Maze Runner movie are hard to come by these days. It seems as though a strategic attempt to slowly release details has been made – prolonging anticipation and excitement for the movie.

This week Wes Ball, the director of the movie, took to twitter to introduce Chris Sheffield as Ben.

Sheffield is 24 years old and a Texas native. He has about a dozen or so television appearances under his belt, and a background beginning in modeling. If you’re interested, you can follow him on Twitter here: @ChrisShef.

The second casting announcement has been deduced through more unofficial means. Joe Adler, a young actor with only about nine acting titles under his name, will also joining the Maze Runner team. The actor has been seen and mentioned by several of his fellow cast mates on Twitter over the past few weeks. But last night Alexander Flores (who we know is playing Winston) shared a picture of several of the Gladers which gave us a chance to finally learn the young boy’s name.

If you’re like us, and need a little recap as to what actors have been confirmed and what roles are officially still open, we’re here to help!

Frypan:

Joe Adler‘s part is still unknown, but if you look at the list, it would be easy to imagine him in the role as Frypan. As of now, this is only speculation. We reported earlier that Jacob Latimore has also been cast in the Maze Runner movie, but his official announcement didn’t include what role he would be filling. Lastly, we know that Dexter Darden has joined the cast. His Twitter feed has been completely forthcoming about that, but who the actor will be playing is still unknown.

Within the book, there are many unnamed Glader boys running around and performing various tasks, so it’s very easy to imagine that additional original characters are to be added to the script. That must be the case since we now have more actors than official book roles.

What do you think of the new ‘Maze Runner’ casting announcements? Are you open to the idea of new characters being created?
