More news from The Maze Runner adaptation was released today. Patricia Clarkson has joined the cast.
EW reported the exclusive news but shared few details on whom the actress would be playing.
They did however report that Clarkson would be playing “the character with the answers.”
Few adult characters are found within the popular novel by James Dashner, but the description does give us some insight into who Clarkson will be playing.
Therefore, fans of the book series may assume the actress is to play Ava Paige, the highest ranking official at WICKED, but no conformation has been cited in the article.
James Dashner however, puts speculation to rest with a recent tweet:

Patricia Clarkson is a well established actress with many successful films to her credit. Several of her films include The Green Mile, Lars and the Real Girl, Easy A, and Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
Clarkson is a powerhouse of skill and delivery and will be a large asset to the entire film. In addition, her gravitas also builds up anticipation for a larger audience that may not have originally been marketed to.
Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Spangster as well as many other young upcoming actors are currently in Louisiana filming the movie.
Cast members have been sharing many details about the fun taking place on set by tweeting pictures and information about their days together as gladers.
Clarkson’s addition to the film will surely add to the enjoyment behind the scenes as well as on the big screen. If we’re lucky we may get a peek into this aspect of her time on set as well.
The Maze Runner is due in theaters February 14, 2014.
